DoubleOmega Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 1, 2026
Overview
DoubleOmega is a proxy switcher extension for Chrome. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how DoubleOmega handles your data.
DoubleOmega does not collect, store on any server, or transmit any user data.
The extension only changes which proxy route Chrome uses. It never reads the content of your browsing or network traffic.
Data Collection
Proxy profiles, switching rules and proxy credentials you enter are stored only on your device (chrome.storage.local). They are never sent to the developer or any third party.
- Proxy profiles: Server addresses, ports and protocols you configure
- Switching rules: URL patterns and PAC settings that decide which profile is used
- Proxy credentials: Usernames and passwords for proxy servers you configured
Data Storage
Local Storage (only):
- All data is stored locally on your device using
chrome.storage.local - There is no cloud sync — DoubleOmega does not operate any server
- No analytics or tracking is implemented
Backup export (optional):
- Data you export with the backup feature is written to a file you choose and stays under your control.
Proxy Credentials
- Proxy credentials are used solely to answer authentication challenges (HTTP 407) from proxy servers you configured, and only while that profile is active.
Data Sharing
- The extension makes no network requests of its own. It contains no analytics, advertising or telemetry.
- DoubleOmega does not sell, transfer, or share any user data with third parties
- DoubleOmega does not use user data for purposes unrelated to its core functionality
Permissions
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| proxy | Read and write Chrome's proxy settings (the core function of the extension) |
| storage | Save your proxy profiles, switching rules and settings on your device |
| webRequest | Listen for proxy authentication challenges (onAuthRequired) |
| webRequestAuthProvider | Required in Manifest V3 to answer proxy authentication challenges |
| activeTab | Read the current tab's URL from the popup (a narrower permission than “tabs”) |
Host Permissions
DoubleOmega requests access to all URLs (<all_urls>) because a proxy authentication challenge can occur on a request to any site. This permission is used only to answer those challenges. The extension injects no scripts into web pages and does not read page content.
Data Deletion
You can delete all stored data at any time by:
- Deleting individual profiles and rules within the extension
- Uninstalling the extension (all local data is automatically removed)
Changes to This Policy
